Top Vancouver Fashion Spots
Assignment Fashion asked our friend, accomplished stylist Claudia Da Ponte to give us her 5 Favorite spots in Vancouver by neighborhood. So with Fashion Photographer Toranj Kayvon , MUA Hellen Torres and a model they set out on a day of Fashion fun and exploration. The 3 girls hit up Claudia##Q##s 5 ##Q## fav ##Q## spots so that Toranj could capture the essence of the area while Claudia style the model in the styles of that neighborhood.
AF is pleased to showcase what Claudia submitted to us as we feel she along with Toranj Kayvon capture what Vancouver truly has to offer in unique Fashion districts and ##Q##hot spots##Q##.
Gastown

Claudia##Q##s thoughts:
“The city##Q##s oldest neighborhood with character boutiques carrying international brands and local designers.” Models wardrobe from Lynn Stevens.
Just the facts:
Gastown is a mix of “hip” contemporary fashion and interior furnishing boutiques, tourist-oriented businesses (generally restricted to Water Street), restaurants, nightclubs, poverty and newly upscale housing. In addition, there are law firms, architects and other professional offices, as well as computer and Internet businesses, art galleries, music and art studios, and acting and film schools.
Gastown has become a hub for technology and new media. It has attracted companies such as Zaui Software, Idea Rebel, BootUp Labs Entrepreneurial Society, and MarketR.
South Granville

Claudia##Q##s Thoughts:
“Gallery row mixed in with high end boutiques like Oliver & Lilly and Misch. Anthropologie is the newest edition.” Models wardrobe from Oliver & Lilly.
Just the facts:
Since 1907, South Granville has evolved into one of Vancouver’s most prestigious shopping districts. Located mere minutes from downtown Vancouver and easily accessible from all over the Lower Mainland, South Granville is a neighbourhood that should be on every visitors itinerary. This is where Vancouver comes to taste the best, find their style, live well and indulge themselves. South Granville is where you’ll find something for everyone-the aspiring interior designer, the fashionista, the power-shopper, the spa lover, the food and wine connoisseur—the list is endless.
Alberni Street

Claudia##Q##s thoughts:
Vancouver##Q##s 5th Avenue with high end stores like Hermes, Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & co to name a few. Just around the corner from the super commercial Robson street. Models wardrobe from Betsey Johnson.
Just the facts:
Alberni Street, also known as Vancouver’s mini Rodeo Drive, is fast putting those stereotypes to rest. There may still be a 7-11 on the corner and a BC Liquor Store smack dab in the middle, but Alberni Street has quietly conglomerated some of the ritziest boutiques and snazziest bistros in the city. The recent completion of the Shangri-La Hotel and the opening of a host of new restaurants over the past several years has cemented Alberni’s reputation as Vancouver’s capital of bling. – facts by REMY SCALZA
Yaletown

Claudia##Q##s thoughts:
Vancouver##Q##s trendy upscale renovated warehouse neighborhood full of beautiful boutiques like Basquiat and Fine Finds. Models wardrobe from Basquiat.
Just the facts:
Yaletown is an area of Downtown Vancouver bordered by False Creek, Robson, and Homer Streets. Formerly a heavy industrial area dominated by warehouses and rail yards, since Expo 86, it has been transformed into one of the most densely populated and upscale neighbourhoods in the city. The marinas, parks, high rise apartment blocks, and converted heritage buildings constitute one of the most significant urban regeneration projects in North America.
Main Street

Claudia##Q##s thoughts:
Up and coming eclectic chic with a blend of boutiques featuring consignment clothing and local designers. Models wardrobe from Adhesif.
Just the facts:
“Mid” Main–Main Street from 20th to 22nd Avenue–is one of Vancouver##Q##s premiere shopping districts. While the area does include antique and consignment stores, the real reason to visit is the fashion: Mid Main boutiques are home to some of the best independent Canadian and local fashion in the city.
Stylish and fashion-forward, these boutiques offer fashion-lovers a chance to buy unique clothes and accessories while supporting local and independent designers.
