Because I was born and raised in Vancouver I like to believe that I know all of the cool hangout spots such as funky coffee shops, stylish restaurants and, of course, up and coming fashion boutiques. Vancouver is an amazing city because although it caters to people who like to shop at large chain stores such as Zara, H&M, and Banana Republic, you can also find a great selection of locally owned boutiques and concept stores. I have spent many days wandering different neighbourhoods to find these “secret gem” locations and below is a list of my favourite spots:
1) Zebra Club Vancouver – South Granville
Zebra Club is a cool place because the store carries a variety of different brands and styles. No matter what age or background you come from you are guaranteed to find something you like there. Their summer shipment is amazing including a fabulous selection of breezy floral Ganni dresses, and a fantastic variety of perfect white T-shirts (whether you’re looking for something long and oversized or a standard fitting staple piece). Currently they also have a wonderful variety of summer hats including boaters, fedoras, and floppy styles. Possibly my favourite accessory in the store is the Daniel Wellington watch, which they have in many styles.
PS: Their instagram is my favourite place to go for style inspo:

2) One of A Few – Gastown
This super chic boutique carries a variety of merchandise from clothes to bags, shoes, and accessories. If you are looking for the perfect pair of vintage Levi’s you have come to the right place. For a newer alternative try the Won Hundred boyfriend jeans. And for the perfect striped T-shirt take a browse through their Edith A. Miller selection. I especially love their fantastic variety of delicate silver and gold rings.

3) Eugene Choo – Main Street
Eugene Choo is the perfect spot to find a mixture of classic styles and unique statement pieces. Although you can go there to shop for everyday basics you may also find a unique array of merchandise in different colours, textures, and patterns. My favourite brands there include Filippa K, APC, Lifetime Collective, and Steven Alan. They cater to both men and women and the store occupies two side-by-side spaces. The first space contains their clothing merchandise and the “Annex” next door carries their shoe and bag collection. Eugene Choo is my go to spot when searching for the perfect party dress.

4) Violet Boutique – Sixth Ave
Violet Boutique is a women’s shop located on Sixth Ave in the Kitsilano neighbourhood. They carry a variety of high end international brands and a great selection of complementary styles. You could easily build your entire wardrobe while shopping at Violet Boutique. They carry mostly clothing, but also a small selection of jewellery, shoes, and other accessories. I love their collection of Rachel Comey and Frame Denim products. The inside of the store has both an inviting yet modern aesthetic and is well laid out making it easy to shop. Their store’s image can be described as strong and feminine. Violet Boutique is a great place to go if you need to find a well styled outfit. I love that they carry dressier pieces as well as solid basics and occasionaly playfully patterned ensembles.

5) Gravity Pope – Kitsilano
Gravity Pope is an independently owned boutique with locations in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, and Toronto. In Vancouver they have two side by side locations on 4th Ave in Kitsilano. The first space is their footwear shop and the store next door is their clothing boutique. I like Gravity Pope because they carry clothing from all over the world. Their products are on the pricier side because of the high quality craftsmanship and materials. You can find many high end international brands there including Comme Des Garçons, ACNE, Alexander Wang, Isabel Marant and Rag & Bone. Their footwear selection is amazing and very well merchandised. I love their Grenson shoe collection. Gravity Pope caters to both men and women.
