Hey guys I’m back! I’ve never really been much of a coffee drinker, but lately I haven’t been able to survive without an early morning caffeinated beverage. My manager at work also recently informed me that the caramel macchiatos from Starbucks are not actually a true macchiato drink (who knew?!) So basically I’m now a real coffee aficionado who prefers the most classic and purest of caffeinated beverages (just kidding I still like Starbucks). But with this title comes great responsibility, so I’ve been going crazy with testing different coffees from pretty much every spot in Vancouver I can find A.K.A. the ones that look the cutest from the outside window. Here are the ones that have won my stamp of approval! Voila, Kelsey’s top 3 Vancouver coffee shops:
1) Bump N’ Grind Cafe
If you’re a true South Granvillite then I apologize for boring you because you probably already go to Bump N’ Grind like everyday (because it’s THAT good). But if not, do yourself a favour and make a trip down there right now for one of their amazing vanilla lattes, carrot cake muffins, or thirst quenching cold brews.
Consider yourself warned…their coffee is extremely photogenic and YOU WILL be tempted to Instagram it.
Mast Brothers Chocolate Bars
YES, they have these too! One of my favourite chocolate treats. These bars make a great accompaniment to a steamy cuppa’ joe.
This is what you will start to wear, eat, and become if you start hanging around South Granville…a stylish coffee drinking fashionista who orders coffee from Bump N’ Grind, reads artsy vintage novels, and shops at Zebra Club (located right across the street kids).
2) 49th Parallel
49th Parallell, similar to Bump N’ Grind, has more than one location in Vancouver. However, the location I am most familiar with is the one on Main Street. If you go there you MUST try a Lucky’s donut, or two I’m not going to judge. But I’ll let you in on a secret about this spot: they have the best iced coffee hands down! My favourite iced coffee in Vancouver is the iced Venezuelan blend from 49th Parallel. It has the perfect amount of sweetness and zest. I even believe that this drink will make an iced coffee hater turn over to the dark and highly addictive side of cold coffee. But to be honest all of the drinks from here are good, so even if you just order your usual I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Hot cocoa for one please!
But who are we kidding? You’re going to end up ordering both.
Located on Cambie Street, Revolver definitely appeals to the artsy crowd, I mean just take a look at their Instagram page. But the coffee tastes just as good as it looks in those beautiful photos. I would go for a classic toasty brew from off their menu. Add a little bit of cane sugar for that extra dose of sweetness, and put a hold on the milk and cream. Revolver is definitely all about the experience, so take your order for there. Sit down by the window, read that book you’ve been meaning to read, and become absorbed in the atmosphere.
