Tommy Hilfiger’s Spring / Summer 2015 collection was an ode to the heyday of Rock and Roll. With the music festival girl as his muse, Hilfiger channeled the vintage rock style of his favorite iconic musicians, whilst taking cues from the “free-spirited festival girls of today, channeling their youthful energy and effortless cool”.

The glitter and glamour was felt almost immediately upon entering the venue. Hilfiger is clearly a visionary as well as a perfectionist and every detail of the production was immaculately dealt with and managed to perfection.

As we walked up to the runway, it was clear from the entrance alone the collection was going to have  a hefty nod to Sgt. Pepper’s and the era of rock royalty.

The jewels in the crown were the notable leading ladies, Georgia May Jagger, daughter of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, opened the show followed soon after by Ella Richards, granddaughter of Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards. There was a further bevy of rocky star offspring amongst the front row.

The night wasn’t just about the ladies. Tara Ferry, son of singer- songwriter Brian Ferry, played the drums during the show alongside musician Steve Hash.

The collection hit the stage with a real bang and the pieces were as dynamic as the set. Military regalia and detailing accessorizing the pieces beautifully to give that late 60’s stylization.

Hilfiger built the free-spirited feeling of the collection with beautiful sheer pieces printed with playful tattoo graphics, commissioned by talented tattoo artist Fernando Lions. These pieces added great balance to some of the stronger pieces like the beautiful metallic pleated skirts and structured jackets and wraps.

My favourite pieces from the collection came in the form of the spectacular faux fur coats. Modern and fresh with their vibrant colours and fabulous prints, they still exuded a 60’s/70’s rock vibe and most definitely put me in mind of Woodstock.

The Tommy Hilfiger show definitely stood out as one of the highlight shows of Fashion Week and Hilfiger has yet again found away to keep his household label ahead of the curve.
