One of my favourite shows at NYFW is always The Blonds. They bring showmanship, fun and a side of sauce to fashion. For Fall 2015, The Blonds wove a cinematic tapestry paying homage to directors Jodorowsky and Kubrick as well as characters such as Tilda Swinton as Orlando. In a battle royale of Fantasy vs. Reality, flamboyance and drama dominated.
Whist this season their collection took a darker look at fashon through the lense of film, it didn’t lose any of its vibrancy. I loved the fun nod to Kubrick’s ‘A Clockwork Orange’ costumes in the first look, as Phillipe Blond took to the runway in a spectacular bejeweled bodice complete with cane and jaunty bowler hat accessories. The fantastic body suits and corsetry that The Blonds are known for didn’t disappoint, and successfully mixed edgy urban military and full-out glamour whilst keeping the sense of playfulness that we know and love them for.
The oversized sequin pieces were incredible and I could only imagine David and Phillipe Blonde coming up with glamour camo. These pieces tied for my favourite looks along with the incredible orange fur wrap and sequin under dress.
Another indelible show by the Blonds!
