Spring Trends 2015

Lately the weather in Vancouver has been less than satisfactory, but let us not forget our elementary school cliché: “April showers bring May flowers”. So while we stay in our houses under our warm bed covers praying for some sun, let us review which trends we will be dreaming of wearing this spring (once the sun reveals itself again). Yes, you can peruse your favourite fashion magazines and instantly spy the reappearing trends in each avant-garde fashion editorial, but I’m going to show you how to wear these trends with a street style appropriation.

1) Trend: Platform Sandals

The platform sandal portrays a 1970’s sophistication and hyper femme allure. However, if you’re not looking for a soft and dainty style, try experimenting with an unexpected grunge look. This outfit is reminiscent of a Saint Laurent rocker girl ensemble you might see in a collection by Hedi Slimane. The Look

 2) Trend: Fringe
Fringe reminds me of the bohemian feel of the 1970’s. It has recently come back into style and can be worn many different ways. Try a fringe bag for starters and if you’re super adventurous go all out with a fringe jacket. When worn the right way a fringe ensemble can bring an outfit from casual and cool to ultra chic.Fringe

Trend 3: White Out
Chic, clean, simple, and elegant, white is a shade that never goes out of style and it is a very fresh look for spring. Instead of one statement piece, try wearing an all white outfit. Monochromatic looks are hot for this spring with other stand out colours including red and navy. However, my favourite shade to play around with is white because it is so crisp and modern looking.Look #3
