On the eve of New York Fashion week, iconic mannequin designers Rootstein launched fashion week with a bang. They unveiled their latest design created from the likeness of Phillipe Blond, model and head designer for international design house The Blonds. Whilst Rootstein is renowned for their tradition of creating mannequins of famous personalities, this collaboration brings something groundbreaking to the company. This will be the first time in the Rootstein’s nearly 60 year history that they will be creating both a male and a female mannequin from the same individual!
Phillipe joins a roster of unforgettable muses who have been immortalized by Rootstein. Throughout the decades, Rootstein has sought out celebrities who have embodied the spirit of the times. They have sculpted mannequins based on Twiggy, Agyness Deyn, Pat Cleveland, Marie Helvin, Sayoko, Dianne Brill, Yasmin LeBon, Karen Mulder, Jodie Kidd, Joan Collins, Susanne Barstch, Erin O¹Connor and Jade Parfit to name a few.
“The whole process is surreal and magical, like a dream. It is such an honor to join the ranks of so many inspiring icons that have been sculpted for mannequins by Rootstein. Their heritage is groundbreaking and their craftsmanship is incomparable and I can’t wait to see what window dressers around the world will dress my mannequin in!” – Phillipe Blond
Along with the unveiling ,the event included a exhibition of some of the blonds most memorable runway designs. Known for their high impact work, it was fantastic to get up close and personal with the pieces and see the wow factor extends into all the finer details. The beading and crystal details were especially breathtaking and it is no wonder that they are highly sought after by some of the worlds biggest performers such as Katy Perry, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea, Miley Cyrus, Christina Aguilera, Kylie Minogue and Britney Spears
If you want to see the display for yourself it will be showing till the end of the month at the Rootstein showroom at 205 West 19th street NY.
