Pamella Roland F/W14
Whilst not entirely surprisingly Pamella Roland’s F/W14 show was filled with opulence and elegance. Her collections are known for their glamour and grace. This season she was clearly inspired by the roaring twenties. Roland’s collection featured feathers, fringe, silks and beading. Whilst the pallet mostly remained muted in heavy darks, including maroon, navy and black, the pieces were not lacking luster due in part to the beautiful detailing and even the fabric itself. The fabrics were beautifully textured, many of which having an almost liquid quality to them. This was never more visible than with the gold silk gowns, which looks as though they were oozing across the runway.
A blue graphic biker style jacket and leather pencil skirt with feather waistline, created a striking hourglass silhouette, showing Roland’s ability to use strong modern materials and make them into feminine pieces.
Movement was a big part of this collection, and this flapper style dress which looked like it was literally dripping with gems, was almost hypnotic as it went down the runway.
My favorite piece was the leather tunic topped gown the chiffon skirt and feather trim, so modern in its makeup, yet so classic in its style. The wearer almost transformed into Tamara De Lempicka art work.
