Jeremy Scott F/W 14
Jeremy Scott is the master of mayhem at NYFW. His ability to make fashion playful and at the same time make stinging social commentary means he always gives the critics something to talk about, and this season was no different.
Clearly inspired by his collaboration with Adidas, Scott took us and his collection to the ball game. Furry football shirt-style dresses and tops were first down the runway. The leg accessories paired with the short pieces were incredible. It is hard to find an exact description, but I am going for ‘stylized leg guards’.
The collection built upon the body armor idea with clincher belts resembling jock straps and even a full piece of corsetry.
My favorite part of the collection was the wild, almost comic book graphics of crazed ball players and psychedelic swirls. The accessories through out the collection were spot on, using cues and detailing from sporting paraphernalia to great effect.
My favorite piece of the collection was the band-aid print suiting. The classic tailoring was not lost in the wildness of the graphic, yet this beautifully crafted piece is literally emblazoned with Scott’s wit.
