Jay Godfrey: S/S 15

Jay Godfrey NYFW

by Dominique Hanke
Jay Godfrey’s presentations are always a feast for the senses. From the fantastic live musical accompaniments, to the perfectly put together themed sets, to the models dressed in Godfrey’s beautiful pieces, all fantastically yet eclectically styled. The whole effect gives the  feeling you have walked into an art installation.

This season, the collection had a blend of dapper and western rocker. Beautiful, soft lace pieces standing next to more structured pieces in highly graphic fabrics.

Lace featured heavily in Godfrey’s collection, giving those pieces a  distinctly boho feel which was definitely an emerging trend on the runways all week.

Godfrey included several spectacular capes as light weight outerwear. I loved the silver quilted piece in particular.

My favourite piece of the collection was the high-low wired lace skirt. I love the contradiction of the structure of the hemline and the softness of the fabric.
