Jay Godfrey F/W 14
Jay Godfrey’s NYFW debut was an all-out rock concert, as he transformed The Hub at the Hudson Hotel into a concert hall. The models hit the stage accompanied by guitarist Beau Croxton on the electric guitar, setting the rock and roll party mood.
Godfrey stepping out of his normal comfort zone, put aside the bright and bold party dresses he is known for, and went for a distinctly grittier look with this 70’s rock inspired collection.
Whilst darker and grittier than his earlier work, Godfrey kept the collection fun and playful with his great use of texture, python print, sequins and fringe featuring heavily. The classic bomber Jacket had a big presence on the stage and was shown in a myriad of fabrics, from leather to sequins and lace. The fringe covered black bomber jacket and python print circle skirt, made a great funky yet feminine pairing. Another great look showing Godfrey’s ability to get gritty yet keep it soft, was a black shirt with lace detailing on the cuffs and shoulders, paired up with a short fringe skirt. However the stunning Jessica Rabbit-esque dress with sequin paneling and sheer cut outs was definitely my favorite, with its form hugging cut and large dose of sass.
