Beauty tips that work from the mountains to the street

Vancouverites were treated to our first snow of the season last week, and it##Q##s promising to be a long & cold winter. Which also means it##Q##s a long and snowy year up on the mountains (weee!).
Here are some picks to keep you looking fresh in the cold:
  1. It seems like the summer sunshine is eons away – but the rays are still damaging your skin. Especially up on the mountain with the reflection off of the snow. My favorite daily sunscreen product is TimeWise Day Solutions by Mary Kay. At $51 it##Q##s a little pricey, but a little goes a long way. It##Q##s designed to be worn under your regular moisturizer so you can customize your moisture (oil-free, extra hydrating) for your specific needs. I##Q##ve recently returned to using the whole Timewise Set. If you##Q##ve ever passed by a Mary Kay convention you##Q##ve likely tried to run – but check out their skin, they all glow!!!
  2. Tried and true, Carmex stops the chap and keeps your lips soft and smooth. It##Q##s now available in a tube – now you won##Q##t have to take off those gloves to apply!
  3. A stain will keep some colour on your lips under your lip balm and keep  those rosy cheeks happening after you##Q##ve warmed up inside.  The best way to determine your shade is to check the inside of your mouth just below your lips. Sounds odd, but it will give you the most natural tone.  Tarte makes great stains in lots of colour options – a large size is $30 or get some minis for when you##Q##re on the go (or share them for holiday gifts) with their “Ring it In” Gift set – 3 minis and a cute cocktail ring for $24 at Sephora.
  4. Pantene Nature Fusion Smooth Vitality Conditioner promises no more fly aways – cold weather and indoor heating can make the best conditioned hair make like your doing the static ball at Science World. Not bad for $5.99!
  5. Rain, snow, sweat… all enemies of mascara. However, I always urge – skip the waterproof mascara! It##Q##s hard to remove, and hard on the lashes. A better option? Pop over to NOIR Lash Lounge for a fling with lash extensions – Le Fling ($35) gives very natural looking lash extensions on the outer edges only. These will define your eyes and keep you worry free while your on the go!

Here##Q##s a quick tip for those with very dry, very painful cuticles – your likely using cuticle oil (very good!) during the day. Before you go to bed at night, try rubbing in some anti-biotic ointment. The ointment will hydrate and keep things clean so they can heal more quickly.

Keep looking lovely ladies!
