Spring Transition : Vancouver style

Vancouver##Q##s transition from Spring to summer is anything but predictable, especially this year. With May having broken records for low temperatures and rain fall one must know how to dress to survive and stay comfortable. Growing up with an outdoorsy family I was always told that layering was key to being prepared as well as comfortable. Vancouver is mild in this transition period so there a two ways to style your outfit to ensure you remain stylish, warm and dry.

For the cold sensitive types

So for those are always cold and always complaining about it well we will take care of you first so you don##Q##t complain to us here at the site.

In Transition

One of my biggest passions in life is travelling. The biggest disadvantage of it however is the limited luggage allowed on planes. The fact that my whole wardrobe has to come out of one suitcase is frustrating but it does not have to mean that fashion has to suffer.
Now that I’ve been in this divine yet rainy metropolis for a month I’ve come to realise that any wardrobe, be it a suitcase or walk-in closet, needs a few key essential items during winter. So, just before I left sunny Brisbane for wet Vancouver I had left out some of those essential items so I would have a viable excuse to shop here and it helped also reduced my luggage weight.

MS Society of CANADA – Giving Back

MS Society of Canada

The mission of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada is: To be a leader in finding a cure for multiple sclerosis and enabling people affected by MS to enhance their quality of life.

Our two major programs provide hope for the future through the support of MS research into the cause, treatment and cure of the disease and hope for today through our many services that assist people with MS and their families.

Since our founding in 1948, the core support of the MS Society has been from tens of thousands of dedicated individuals, companies and foundations in communities across Canada. The Society receives almost no funding from government.

The MS Society of Canada has a membership of 28,000.

First United-Giving Back

We are more than the sum of our parts. The history of the ministry at the corner of Gore and Hastings Streets in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside is a long one.

First Presbyterian Church was organized in 1885,  a year before Vancouver was a city. Through the years of colonialism,  joint outreach projects with Princess Street Methodist Church foreshadowed the work established in 1925 when The United Church of Canada was founded.

As an inner-city ministry of the United Church of Canada that has been called to be a part of the Vancouver Downtown Eastside, we seek to be and become a faithful and authentic “Gospel Community” which, rooted in our Christian faith, is:

Inclusive of all people regardless of their place of residence, religious or political beliefs, economic or social circumstances
Grounded in the call to both be Christ for others and to recognize Christ in others
Values diversity and individual difference and lives out a relationship of mutuality
Intentional in its primary commitment to stand with and to sit at table with those who otherwise live on the margins of society
Inspirational in celebrating Life, in proactively fostering peace and justice, and in consciously and actively embracing responsibility for the environment.

The community of faith, which is this First United Church, will strive to include people of various economic means, including youth and children, while always remaining rooted in standing with those who are exiled in their own land.
