“Jonny Johansson rarely plays it safe — even with his pre-collections. For resort, the designer wanted to express naivety and freedom of expression. Following his fabric experiments and patchworks last season, this effort felt more accomplished and looked fresher. The juxtaposition of wallpaper-inspired striped linen and floral prints on silk twill — given some arty DIY treatments with unfinished edges and stenciled spray-paint — with more traditional raw fabrics like linen were directly inspired by two photos the designer found in “The Last Swan,” a book on Marella Agnelli’s houses that illustrated how she mixed conservative furniture with her contemporary art pieces.
Art references abounded: a multistriped duster coat, white linen canvas trenches with exaggerated collars and pockets, boyish pants or wrapped skirts in organza with patches of fabrics like modern paintings, and roomy linen cubist patchwork looks in blue denim hues. Quieter interludes included a black suede coat as soft as cashmere, split horizontally and held together with big knots. All exits were accessorized with tattoo chokers, adding to the offbeat vibe”. – WWD
